Bobette Wolf, Brian Malcolm and Mary Navolio joined forces to create a boutique graphic design studio with an emphasis on high creativity and strong client results in June 2006.

The firm’s focus is on creating design concepts that bring results and recognition to its clients. Malcolm Wolf capabilities range from logos to corporate communications to publication and web design, direct mail, trade shows and packaging. Malcolm Wolf offers added support such as integrated marketing plans, media, and public relations strategies and materials.

Awards that the founding designers have won include: 11 consecutive Illinois Governor Awards for excellence in tourism marketing materials, a Sappi International silver award for a corporate annual report, a Chicago Financial Advertisers Award for excellence in banking services literature, and three American Graphic Design awards – for an interactive DVD, corporate communications and catalog design.

Our Clients

Bobette Wolf, president, is a graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (BFA) Visual Communications with graduate studies in graphic design and typography in Europe. She has served as graphic designer and art director for Helene Curtis and Wolf Design. Her design portfolio includes corporate communications, consumer advertising, publications and packaging for corporations which include Ace Hardware, Adler Planetarium, Advocate Health Care, the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Caterpillar, The Field Museum, The Home Depot, Kmart, Marshall Field's, Mobil Oil, Target and True Value.
Mary Navolio, vice president, has 30 years experience in the field of visual communications with an emphasis on publication design and association support. She received her BFA from the University of Kansas and attended Yale University's Summer graduate design program in Switzerland. Mary has designed award-winning publications, direct marketing pieces, and conference/seminar promotional materials for associations including the American Hospital Association (AHA), National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC). She has also designed similar results-driven projects for clients including Mobil Oil, ParentMagic, Inc., and ServiceMaster Companies.
Brian Malcolm, designer, has nearly 15 years in corporate communications, packaging, catalog design and branding. A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Art's visual communications program, Brian has done award-winning design work for such notable companies as Sanford, ADP, ServiceMaster, Make Up First School of Makeup Artistry and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). He is the recipient of three American Graphic Design awards for an interactive DVD, corporate communications and catalog design.
Cathy Kallas, copywriter, is a writing professional with more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications. Her portfolio includes trade publications, press releases, consumer packaging, advertising, direct mail campaigns, corporate brochures, newsletters, annual reports and marketing collateral for clients that include Dreyer Medical Clinic, Ulta, Vigoro, True Value and Vermont American. Cathy also has experience developing and managing social media campaigns for small business owners.
Alan Miller, website designer, is a skilled technologist and UI specialist. With 10 years of experience under his belt, he has led many web design and eCommerce implementations for companies of all sizes. At Malcolm Wolf he has created memorable designs for the Aurora Downtown Alive Festival Series, The Dunham Fund, Dreyer Medical Clinic, BRAVO A-List Awards, PRS Lawyers, and many more. Alan loves both the design of a website and the code underneath. Offering a rare blend of technical skill and artistic ability, he can create the website's design and the database that makes it operate.
Joel Miller, web marketing specialist, has been working since 2004 for companies including Allstate, Pfizer, Pitney-Bowes and PBS. More recently social media has become an area of focus, developing and creating media for Facebook, Twitter and Google strategies for many successful midwestern businesses. Tying into social media campaigns, he has managed email marketing through Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor and MailChimp.
Rex Bohn, illustrator with a background in advertising design, has 25 years of experience creating materials for business and consumer literature, magazine and book publishing, packaging and logos. His clients have included American Bar Association, Accenture, Central DuPage Hospital, Chicago Stock Exchange, Chicago Tribune, Christianity Today International, Motorola, Provena Health and Simon & Schuster. He spent seven years as designer and art director for Admark Communications Group and later for Meindl & Associates. He specializes in editorial illustration, cartooning, book illustration, children's book illustration, logo design, developing marketing mascot characters for print and/or packaging, scratch board and woodcut.
